Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and any profile information you provide during onboarding (grade level, interests, location).

When you use Launch, we store your tasks, projects, habits, uploaded files, and quiz results so we can show them to you across sessions.

We log basic usage data (pages visited, features used) to understand how the product is being used and improve it.

2. How we use it

• To provide the service: showing your tasks, generating AI coaching, sending study reminders.
• To personalize your experience: the AI coach uses your interests and goals to give relevant advice.
• To send mentor notification emails if you've added a mentor email to your account.
• To improve the product based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns.

3. AI and your data

Launch uses the Anthropic Claude API to generate coaching messages, task plans, and quiz questions. Your task titles, onboarding answers, and uploaded notes may be sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. We do not use your data to train AI models.

4. Chrome extension

The Launch Chrome extension injects a sidebar into supported study platforms (Canvas, Google Classroom, Google Docs, Google Colab). It reads page content only when you explicitly click "Get help with this page" — this content is sent to our server to generate a coaching response and is not stored.

The extension stores your authentication token locally in Chrome's storage. It is never shared with third parties.

5. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share data only with the service providers necessary to operate Launch: our hosting provider (DigitalOcean), the AI API (Anthropic), and our payment processor (Stripe) for billing. Each provider processes only the data they need for their function.

6. File uploads

Files you upload for homework verification or quiz generation are stored securely. You can delete your files at any time from your project page. We do not use uploaded files for any purpose other than generating the response you requested.

7. Data protection

We implement the following technical and organisational measures to protect your data:

• All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
• Data at rest is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database with encryption at rest enabled (DigitalOcean Managed Databases).
• OAuth tokens (including Google Calendar tokens) are stored server-side only and are never exposed to the client or third parties.
• Google Calendar tokens are revoked with Google when you disconnect the integration.
• Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel only.

8. Google API data — Limited Use disclosure

Launch's use of information received from Google APIs (including Google Calendar data) adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Specifically: Google Calendar data is used only to display your calendar events within Launch and to calculate your free time slots for AI coaching purposes. We do not use Google user data to serve advertisements, transfer it to third parties (except as necessary to operate Launch), or use it to develop, improve, or train generalised AI or machine learning models.

9. Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app settings at any time.

10. Children's privacy

Launch is designed for high school and college students. Users under 13 should not use Launch without parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email or an in-app notice. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
